As if his life weren't surreal enough, President Obama found himself coming under fire yesterday from two different actors for two very different reasons. First, actor Jon Voight took to criticizing President Obama's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, outlined in his Cairo speech last week, by calling Obama a "false prophet."
On a more light-hearted note, President Obama was forced to order General Ray Ordierno to shave Northwestern alum Stephen Colbert's head.

House Preps Health Care Vote

Why should I care what john Voight thinks? I would say he should stick to acting...but on second though thats pretty bad too. I also find it ironic a man who cheated on his wife and left his family is playing the role of some sort of "moral compass".
That's pretty much a lot of the wingnut party these days.
Look at Gingrich, this guy reaches the absolute height of hypocrisy if you compare what he says now and how he lived his life...cheating on his wife, leaving her when she was in the hospital, for another woman.
One could fill this whole blog with the hypocrisies of the people who are running the republican party.
Ingrid...good post.
We agree that there are hypocrites in the Republican Party.
Are you saying there are zero hypocrites in the Democratic Party?
I guess I am...not that I think democrats aren't out there doing pretty fucked up shit too....i.e. John Edwards...but the democrats aren't out there going on and on about satan and family values and religion and 'the gays' ,etc.
The repubs are more of a 'do as I say and not as I do' kind of party.
I mean who is Gingrich or Limbaugh to criticize Bill Clinton, right?
And yet they'll do it without the slightest hint of irony.
That's our repubs!!!
How does saying there are hypocrites in one party imply that there are not hypocrites in the other? One statement has nothing to do with the other.
Blue...Ingrid just confirmed that she feels there are hypocrites in one party, but not the other.
That's why I asked the question.
To think there is only hypocrites in one party shows that you are looking at politics with blinders on.
The dems don't run on this homophobic, cross waving, family values, pro-life platform and then go out and do just the opposite.
You cannot have the likes of Newt Gingrich going all bible beater when he was out cheating on his wife and dumping her while she was in the hospital.
You have Liimbaugh addicted to pain killers while he's railing on about druggies and illegals getting free medical care.
The dems might be out doing the same things as the repubs, but then again, they're not running their campaigns based on this hypocrisy either.
*disclaimer: I'm not a democrat.
Ingrid...good point. for the record, irishman is not a republican.
I've always found it interesting the people will take the Republican Platform and show how the Republicans are hypocrites...that's easy math.
Usually what happens are those same people will take the Republican platform and show how Democrats are not a hypocrite. I am not a bible thumper...I am NOT Rush Limbaugh...I am not pro-life.
But do this...take the Democratic Platform and go Democratic politician by Democratic polician and you will see a hypocrisy in the Democratic Party. Now THAT's easy math.
Blue...I disagree. Both parties are full of the biggest hypocrites you will ever meet. I wanted to expand the conversation...if you can't get past the initial question to the paragraphs that have been written since, then the point will never be made with you.
You fail to address my point. You posed your question suggesting that claiming hypocrites in one party implied no hypocrites in the other.
Commenter 1: The grass is green.
Commenter 2: Are you saying leaves aren't green?
One does not follow the other. Must we always address the greenness of all things in order to address the greenness of one?
The thing that's funny to me about republican celebrities is that anyone else who's a republican always goes on and on and on about the hollywood liberals who can't keep their mouth shut, and they say stuff like Via Chicago "Why should I care what...thinks". And then Jon Voight and Dennis Hopper start yapping away about the Republican shit and we're suppose to listen?
It's all the more interesting considering the role Voight played on '24' this season.
Voight has played that role in one way or another for the last decade or so...Enemy of the State, Transformers, 24...all kind of the same character with just different levels of evil.
the only movie i remember him in was Mission Impossible...and he was a two faced double crosser in that one too!
What happened to the counter-culture star of Midnight Cowboy? Tsk tsk...
For real,
I'll always remember him as good old Texan Joe Buck, pleasuring Johns in the seedy theater bathroom. An eerie portend of a future of Republican diaper boys and potty goblins.
