Nine Hurt When Car Hits CTA Train

Nine people were hurt, none seriously, early this morning after a multiple car accident on the Eisenhower Expressway included one car jumping a barrier and colliding with a CTA Blue Line train. The accident happened after 4 a.m. this morning near Central Avenue. Seven passengers on the train were transported to a hospital in good-to-fair condition and two people from one of the cars involved were also treated for minor injuries. Full service to the Blue Line was restored around 7:30 a.m. this morning. [Sun-Times]

This on the first day I stopped taking the Blue Line to Forest Park as part of my commute, due to frequent and various frustrations with the Blue Line, instead opting to throw myself back into the gridlock that is the Ike. I hope everyone is OK.

Oddly enough, people only noticed a slight decline in the normally crappy Blue Line service. CTA officials said they expect to have regular crappy service completely restored by this afternoon.

The car managed to jump the tracks just as the train was going by? That's some good timing there.
