Chicago Slaughter win CIFL Championship

2009_06_slaughter_logo.gif When Steve "Mongo" McMichael won a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears, they couldn't go undefeated. But the Chicago Slaughter, the team he coaches in the Continental Indoor Football League, did just that on the way to winning the CIFL Championship on Saturday.

By beating the Fort Wayne Freedom 58-48 at the Sears Centre in suburban Hoffman Estates, the Slaughter finished their season a perfect 14-0. Sure a CIFL title isn't as prestigious as winning a Lombardi Trophy or even the ArenaBowl championship. But it's still likely the only professional sports title for the city this year. As Mongo said following his team's win, "Celebrate the championship of Chicago because it's your team too. Undefeated, the Chicago Slaughter are hear to stay. Now let's go party."

And it is even sweeter since we beat Fort Wayne! I've been hating their team since the cradle. Deetroit, er Fort Wayne, Sucks!

Which day will the parade down LaSalle be taking place?

easy schedule. they only had to play the Wheeling Wildcats once.
