Gary, Indiana mayor Rudy Clay has announced that Michael Jackson's hometown will hold a memorial service for the dead pop star on July 10. The service will be held at the baseball stadium Jackson visited on his last visit home in 2003, The Steel Yard; the stadium holds around 6,000 people. Never one to turn down a chance to talk in front of cameras, Clay has also called for Jackson to be buried in Gary and seems to have designs on turning Gary into something of a "mecca" for Jackson fans. We don't think the Jackson family home has quite the same appeal as Graceland, though. [WBBM]

yeah, that mayor is a trip. but honestly, gary could use the help. i don't think there's too much love lost between the jackons and gary (they booked it outta there as soon as they could), but it could be a nice shot in the arm to the local economy if it's done right.
I was, coincidentially, at The Steel Yard Sunday for a game against the Rail Cats and the Joliet Jackhammers. That being said, the ball park is pretty small for a memorial service. Don't they have a convention center or something there that's bigger? And in your story you say:
"Clay has also called for Jackson to be buried and Gary...
I assume you mean Clay has called for Jackson to be buried IN GARY and not just buried in general. Right?
He should be buried at Neverland Ranch.
Is he still dead?
Yeah? Ok, so what's the news?
The media burned him for 20+ years, now they're going to milk his death for as long as they can. Creepfest.
I just wanted to pay my respects and I had a bus ticket to go to Gary, but the trip was canceled, un beknownst to me untill noon today or I would have made other arrangements, nonetheless, My heart and prayers go out to the Jackson family especially Paris,Prince Michael 1st and Blanket. Rest in peace Michael, love, peace, Amy and my daughter Alisa
