Friday Afternoon Diversion

Rilo Kiley, much like Fleetwood Mac, has managed to get more boring the more famous they get. Luckily for critics and fans alike, Jenny Lewis keeps wearing short shorts, huh? This amusing little ode to '70s film stock is off her Acid Tongue album, and while we've always been tepid to her solo stuff in the past, we like this energetic little ditty.

Um, Rumours, the album that slung Fleetwood Mac into superstardom is one of the best albums every made. Even there 1987 album Tango in the Night - produced 10 years after Rumours - had such hits as "Everywhere" and "Little Lies"

So I'm not really sure where you're coming from on that.

Anyway, I have no speakers so I'll check out this when I get home.

My point exactly, everything started to slide downhill after that album! I do love Rumours though.(Though I do admit to liking most of it's coked-up successor, Tusk too.)

Aww, I have to highly disagree. I think they really grew tremendously as a band on their latest release, and their stage presence grew as well. Yes, their music has become more accessible, no it has not bored me in the least!

Their last album was watered down California dreamin', I did not dig it. But if you did I'm not gonna hold it against you!

Rilo Kiley's last (and likely their last) album demonstrated tremendous growth from the pseudo-country ditties of heir first three releases to tuneful shimmery riff rock without sacrificing the incredible lyricism. And while both of her solo records are also fantastic, I prefer the edge that comes with the ensemble.

I submit that Rilo Kiley is still hardly a household name. And the only individual member of the band that is "famous" is the one you celebrate.

What's with the Fleetwood Mac analogy? Is it because the songwriter's used to fuck each other? They're an LA band? A cheap and wholly unoriginal comparison.

I agree that last album is most likely their last...until the reunion tour in 2015.
