The last time we checked in with those crazy kids at Westboro Baptist Church, they were losing the battle to the awesome counter-protest held at the University of Chicago. Today, the church made a return trip with a busy itinerary that included a stop over at the Don Rickles show and several synagogues, including Emanuel Congregation and Or Chadash in Edgewater. The Edgewater Community Religious Association decided to hold their own peaceful counter-protest. What today's counter-protest at Emanuel lacked in nerd humor it made up for with sincerity and good will. Local social media guru Leah Jones, who happens to be a member at Emmanuel, was there for the protest/counter-protest, taking pictures and wrote up her experience.

Or Chadash is a GLBTQ congregation, my girlfriend is a member. There were a number of folks in Or Chadash who didn't even want to acknowledge these chunder-heads. They were only going to be "protesting" (standing with their stupid signs, for a half hour and all they want is attention anyway.

Their last stop on their schedule is the Don Rickles Show tonight at the Auditorium Theatre.
God Hates Comics?
First off, I would have really liked Don Rickles to have been given an opportunity to insult the Westboro folks at the rally this morning. But while they aren't protesting Rickles because he isn't Jeff Foxworthy, they are protesting him because his show is a fundraiser for the Jewish United Fund.
If you protestna comedian whose audience is all dead or near-dead because he's one of them Jewish types... You might be a redneck.
I just saw them clogging up traffic at the corner of Michigan and Wacker on my way home.
They're good for comedic relief after a long day at work.
I would love for the Auditorium to have a Skype type video conference at the Rickles' show so he could just rip into them and have the whole audience enjoy it...
