You Want a Birchin'. Seriously.

With most folks prepping for that little festival (ahem, ahem) starting tomorrow, it's hard to imagine that there are shows at venues a bit further from the beaten path. E.g. Beat Kitchen's Diane Birch show last night.

Finishing out her national tour with her Chicago debut, Birch played to a small, enthusiastic crowd that sang along to half the songs and danced to the rest. She's a rocked-out June Carter-Cash, complimented with a flugelhorn and tambourine.

We're in love - and we're not alone. Virtually all of last night's crowd stood in line for a record. And almost every one of them told her that they'll see her soon - at the House of Blues Oct. 9, when she opens for Matt Kearney.
