A newborn baby boy was abandoned in a garbage can in the Southwest Side neighborhood of Brighton Park, Chicago Breaking News reports.

Police responded around 10:20 p.m. Friday night to the 4400 block of South Rockwell St. after neighbors reported hearing a baby crying behind the building. Officers found "a newborn Hispanic male baby in a garbage can wrapped in sweatpants and a blanket," the report said. The baby was full-term and police believe he was born earlier that evening.

There are no leads on who the mother of the child is as police investigate.

this is sad. aren't most police stations / fire stations places where you can leave newborns, no questions asked...? not saying it's right to do it, but it's a hell of a lot better than leaving a baby in a fucking garbage can to die.
