The Ex-Governor of Rock and Roll

It seems Lollapalooza wasn't the only musical treat happening in Chicago yesterday. Former governor Rod Blagojevich was on hand to perform the Elvis hit "Treat Me Nice" at an annual block party near the Magnificent Mile last night.

The party was hosted by Optimus, a video production company at 161 E. Grand Ave., in honor of the company's founding. Optimus wanted a "surprising" musical guest for the event and settled on Blago, who was paid an undisclosed sum for the appearance.

Blago pulled up in a stretch white Hummer limo, posed for photos with guests and reappeared at around 7 pm for five minutes to sing the song. Party goers say Blago flipped up his collar, unbuttoned the top of his shirt and invoked the King of Rock and Roll's signature kicks and hip rolls. Blago left after about 30 minutes with a friend guests say resembled Fabio.

According to Blago's publicist, a portion of the proceeds given to his client will be donated to a charity that supports cancer patients. And the blond man was a friend, not Fabio. [Chicago Breaking News]
