Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano looked good in a single-A level rehab start last night for the Peoria Chiefs, pitching five shut-out innings. Said Big Z on his 74-pitch outing: "I felt good...My slider was a little flat, but I have to settle back, do my rehab, work on my pitches and have some fun and get ready for my start on Tuesday." Z even had a clever response to the Sun-Times' Carol Slezak, who took Zambrano to task this week after the pitcher admitted to being lazy. From ESPNChicago:

"I've been doing my rehab on my core, working hard," he said. "For that lady to say I was lazy, I want to see her on Tuesday. I want to be with no shirt so she can see my body, so she can see the body I have. Lazy people don't have this body, so I'm going to show her my guns."He then flexed his biceps.

He's right. Bodies like that are no easy task. It's hard work scarfing down beer, Starbucks and Red Bulls.
Z's body is like what baseball players looked like in Ron Santo's era, before all the weight training. He also looks hilarious in the Peoria Chiefs uni, I think:

You have to wonder if his arrogance and uncomparable macho man, temper stuff will be his eventual undoing. Maybe there will be a Venezuelan version of East Bound & Down in his future.
