McCain To Endorse Kirk

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, when not stretching the truth about health care reform, is apparently busy lining up heavy-hitter endorsements for his 2010 U.S. Senate campaign. At an appearance today in Glenview, Kirk will receive the stamp of approval from U.S. Sen. John McCain. In a statement, McCain said, “The people of Illinois deserve a senator who will restore honest government, strengthen our national security, fight for veterans and bring fiscal discipline to Washington. Mark Kirk has my strongest endorsement.” [Tribune]

Um, Senator McCain? We already elected a Senator to do those things, but he got another job. Maybe you remember, he beat you by about a trillion zillion votes?

Leftcagoist, it is you--rather than Mark Kirk--who is distorting the facts.

Sorry for this long paragraph but it is necessary to make the point. Look at the analysis provided by the Congressional Research Office on HR3200, the House version of ObamaCare coming to the floor. While Barack Obama insists that the idea that ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants is a “myth,” the CRS points out that the bill does nothing to prevent it. Since HR3200 doesn’t require people to establish citizenship or legal residency before applying to exchanges for health insurance, including the public option, taxpayer money will certainly flow to illegal immigrants.

In summary, Kirk was NOT lying. Why must Chicagoist be the mouthpiece for the Democratic Party?

What's funny is that you probably believe yourself.

I assume the bill also does nothing to discourage hospitals from treating vampires? What about cyborgs from the future? Does the bill say that cannibals can be treated? What if it's for cannibal indigestion?

Does the bill say that hospitals are not allowed to take patients out back and race them in their wheelchairs for money PROVIDED that the money is then used for hospital needs?

I will not rest until this bill prevents each and every possibility that exists.

Um, Ward, this is a blog. Chicagoist does no independent journalism, they just link to newspapers and stuff. If you're concerned about "bias," maybe you should start up a "rightcagoist," and focus on the innumerable conservative-oriented events available to Chicagoans, like running over bicyclists and shaking fists at the sky. I'm sure it'll catch on, just like Conservapedia did.

Ooh! I forgot "wanking to WLS-AM," but I think there are a couple blogs already dedicated to that.

You also forgot 'shooting brown people.' That seems to be the only thing the right wants to do anymore.

How come someone disagrees with your accepted views and is abused with insults that my thirteen year old would find lame? I like this site to see what is going on but I find it discouraging that only one view of an issue is acceptable.

You'd note if you'd paid better attention that Ward's opening gambit was a childish insult: "leftcagoist". One that he uses often, perhaps people are getting tired of Wards idiocy.

In my above defense of Mark Kirk, I mentioned findings of the Congressional Research Service (CRS).

I just want to point out that the CRS is hardly a wing of the Republican Party.

In fact, according to Wikipedia:
"...The Congressional Research Service (CRS), known as "Congress's think tank", is the public policy research arm of the United States Congress. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS works exclusively and directly for Members of Congress, their Committees and staff on a confidential, nonpartisan basis."

Your source is not the CRS, but right wing blogs referencing select passages of the CRS doc to help argue their tired case. i can google too. blog blog bloggedy blog blog.

When all is said and done, this a philosophical issue now owned by the victors.. the democrats. In typical fashion, they're throwing it away. Too much time spent listening to and considering the opposition at the expense of real reform, real progress.
