All's been quiet on the Baconfest Chicago front in recent weeks. Today we find out why. In a blog post on the Baconfest website, co-organizer Seth Zurer announced that the event has been postponed until April 19, 2K10. Zurer writes:
Although we have raised a significant amount of pledged monetary and in-kind sponsorship support, we have not been able to meet the financial goals that would make it possible to produce the event on the original time-line.
The VIP bacon cookoff, scheduled for October 24 at the Publican, will go on as scheduled. Zurer says that tickets for that will go on sale next week.

Don't ever take bacon away from a fat kid:

I remember there used to be a Shoney's on Broadway near Granville and it was an all-you-can-eat buffet thing. There was a kid, about 10, who went up and got an entire plate piled with bacon. That's it, nothing else. They shut down not long after that. I believe this kid is one of the main reasons why.
That is okay. I still have a bacon hangover from the Wandering Goat dinner on Wednesday.
Perhaps the whole bacon meme has run its course.
April 19? Yay, that's my bday!
