Details continue to emerge in the death of former Blagojevich adviser Christopher Kelly including the fact that the Country Club Hills police department concluded the death was "an apparent suicide."

  • Sources earlier told both the Tribune and the Sun-Times that it seems Christopher Kelly may have ingested rat poison in his alleged suicide attempt but that it was ultimately aspirin that killed him. The source told the S-T, "He took the rat poison. It's not what killed him." Country Club Hills Police Chief Regina Evans confirmed the discovery of rat poison at an afternoon press conference.
  • It seems this was not Kelly's first attempt at suicide. According to Evans, Kelly had made an attempt on September 8.
  • The Tribune reported today that the man who tried to get Kelly's SUV and drive it away from Oak Forest Hospital was one of Kelly's closest friends, Michael Allen, and that police have been able to get a statement from Allen.
  • Never one to turn away from a chance to make it all about him, former governor Rod Blagojevich plans to attend Kelly's funeral tomorrow. Wife Patti will join him at the funeral, being held at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow at St. John of The Cross Church in Western Springs.
