Curtis White At STOP SMILING Tonight

2009_09_curtis_white.jpg Po-Mo master -- and our pick as the elusive Philo T. Farnsworth -- Curtis White is in town for a reading and discussion of his latest book The Barbaric Heart: Faith, Money, and the Crisis of Nature.

We had the good fortune to have White as a teacher many years ago and can attest to his skills as a gifted raconteur possessing a stunning intellect and a wicked wit. One time colleague David Foster Wallace said White was, "witheringly smart, grotesquely funny, grimly comprehensive, and so moving as to be wrenching." Sounds about right.

Attendees are in for a treat.

White appears tonight, September 17, at STOP SMILING, 1371 N Milwaukee, 7 p.m.
