Bingo Mayhem In Indiana

A woman in Gary, Ind. claims she was pulled off her motorized scooter by an off-duty Gary Police Department volunteer officer after leaving a friendly game of bingo and accused of stealing bingo cards. Thelma Fannin filed a lawsuit against the Gary Housing Authority and three off-duty Gary emergency officials.

Despite claims from residents that she stole the bingo cards, Fannin said she brought her own cards and was watching a friend play bingo. The lawsuit states the volunteer officer took Fannin’s cards from her but she grabbed them back and began to leave on her scooter. The officer then pulled her off the scooter and called the city police to have her arrested. Later she was released to a hospital for injuries.

And to think, we never realized bingo cards were of any value. Our last veggie bingo game at the Hideout didn’t result in this much excitement. Maybe we should head to Gary next time.
