The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir's van rolled over while the group was traveling through Indiana yesterday afternoon. The van was totaled and all of the occupants were rushed to various hospitals. Alison Hinderliter, Jay Santana and Ethan Adelsman were all released from the hospital last night, but Elias Einhorn and Mary Ralph are still in Jasper County Hospital in Indiana. Mark Yoshizumi, who seems to have suffered the most serious injuries, was airlifted to Advocate Christ Hospital Medical Center in Oak Lawn and has undergone some surgery.

The group has been beloved by the Chicago scene both for their intricate and buoyant orch-pop and for the band's unbeatable optimistic spirit. Our thoughts go out to them and we wish everyone a speedy recovery. We've heard that there will be a fund started to help cover the totaled van, ruined gear, and hospital bills, and as soon as that is in place we'll run another post to let you know how to help the band out.

Awful news. I hope that they all pull though okay...they are an extraordinarily talented group. The new album is fantastic and "Everything You Paid For" is still one of my all-time favorite songs.

Oh wow! Thanks for reporting on this, I've known Ethan for a few years but haven't seen him recently. I will definitely be thinking of them all.

There is a paypal donation set up on the Bloodshot Records site: http://www.bloodshotrecords.com/news/sygc-van-accident
