Taxim, Greek Winery Team Up For Dinner

Taxim, the Wicker Park restaurant that has received overwhelmingly positive reviews (in our opinion it's probably the best new restaurant to open this year) for its innovative take on Greek cuisine, is teaming up with one of Greece's best wineries to put together a dinner that, on paper, is going to blow diners away.

In just over 20 years years, Domaine Skouras has earned a reputation for producing wines of amazing flavor and quality. Winemaker George Skouras was trained in winemaking in Dijon and his "Megas Oenos" — a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Agiorghitiko — is nothing short of art in wine form. Skouras will be on hand to pair his wines with a menu that includes mullet roe and winter squash rissoles, with savoy cabbage salad, a trio of seafood highlighted by cedar wood grilled baby mackerel marinated in verjus with green grapes and wood-grilled lamb offal wrapped in small intestine, house-made yogurt and fennel root.

The dinner is on October 19 and is an all-inclusive $85 per person. Call 773-252-1558 to make reservations.

Skouras is good, I was worried you were going to go Boutari! Megas Oneos is always good, but I'm also a big fan of Amethystos red.
