Countdown to Xmas Set to Begin

holidayliteclock1009.jpg In case the race to the holidays wasn't tangible enough, the first sign of Christmas has appeared on the media horizon. Every year WLIT flips its format to All Xmas All the Time, and the countdown is ready to kick off on the station's website.

Last year the Christmas format wars between WLIT and the new WCFS (formerly WCKG) forced a flip from the Lite before Thanksgiving, but since Fresh has settled into their own bland brand of radio it's expected that the Lite will have the field all to themselves. Still, as Larz from the Chicagoland Radio And Media board says, the countdown clock is never terribly accurate anyways. It's really more of a heads-up to the world to plug their ears and hide from the endless Noel.

Is it too early to be concerned about things like this? Probably. Still, forewarned is forearmed, considering that there are only 67 shopping days left til' the big day - and if we accidentally switch to 93.9 and hear that effing Alvin & the Chipmunks carol where he wants a stupid hula-hoop, we're going to get stabby. Best to be prepared.
