Already looked in a heated battle with fellow Democrat Dan Hynes for the Democratic primary, Gov. Pat Quinn - who replaced ex-governor Rod Blagojevich when Blago was impeached and removed from office last winter - went through the formality this morning of officially announcing his run for governor in 2010. The announcement comes in the wake of one poll that puts Quinn's approval rating at only 45 percent. The primary is February 2, 2010. Be sure to check out Kevin's 2007 interview with Gov. Quinn.

as gov or lt. gov, quinn has attended, without fanfare, the funeral of just about every Illinois soldier killed in iraq + afghanistan over the last few years. i wish more people knew that.
I don't question Quinn's commitment to our troops or to our state for that matter. I just wish that he was still a "Reformer" as opposed to an amateur insider. His tax deal will haunt him and it was all for Madigan and the other old time insider who's name escapes at the moment.
Devil's advocate: How does one deal with reality--for instance, the fact that Madigan pretty controls this state--without being at least an "amateur insider"?
Yes, I am at least as frustrated, but the way this state is set up means outsiders have less sway than defacto insiders.
Too bad voters rejected a constitution convention.
Good to see Jim Halpert from Dunder-Miflin is assisting the campaign.
