No Luxury Movies at Block 37

Those of us who've been jonesing for a conveniently located high-end movie theater complete with tableside liquor service and extra-wide, plush seating have been dissed once again. The Trib is reporting that Muvico Entertainment, which was to have opened such an establishment as part of Block 37, actually withdrew from the project back in June. Block 37 in trouble? News to us! Oh well--back to the Brew & View we go.

It seems like the local "media" has been rooting heavily for block 37 to fail for years, wouldn't that movie theatre be awesome? Haters.

Put down your pom-poms, Sparky. It's not that local media was rooting for anything, only reporting on one of the largest city money pits in years.

And that's not even counting the airport express train idea.

Haters? What, you three years old now?

Bummer. I really like the Muvico in Rosemont... would have been nice to have one in the city.

One of those fancy theaters is opening (or just opened) in Bolingbrook. The PR firm kept wanting me to go, not understanding that I wasn't about to drive out to Bolingbrook to see a movie!

So local "media" looks at a sketchy situation and says, "This is a sketchy situation." This translates as "rooting" for failure? Reporting is not necessarily the same as rooting.

And no, I think fancified movie theaters are dumb.

Agreed.
One of the things I like best about going to a movie, is the anticipation of going out to dinner afterwards to eat and/or drink and to talk about the movie.
I don't want to leave the theatre bombed and sated.

Exactly! Fancified movie theaters wreck half a good night. Also, I don't want waiters interrupting my movie.

is any of the tenants staying? seriously.

Haven't heard anything about the Sunglass Hut bailing.

Now I'm convinced that Block 37 rests on an old Indian burial ground. There's no other explanation.
