The White Sox continue to shuffle their lineup around. First, a day after the rumors first leaked about a trade sending Chris Getz and Josh Fields (plus some cash) to Kansas City, the trade has been confirmed. Sox general manager Ken Williams tells the Trib the newly acquired Mark Teahen will play third while Gordon Beckham will be shifted over to second base.
But that wasn't the only move. The Sox have decided to part ways with outfielder Jermaine Dye. Dye, the 2005 World Series MVP, had an option for 2010 which would have paid him $12 million. Instead, the Sox opted to buy out that final year for $950,000. The Sox could still re-sign him to a new contract, but speculation is that they've decided to move on. There were rumors of a trade, specifically to the Giants, during the season, but the Sox held onto Dye.

We've been expecting his departure for years, so now the saga is officially over. Still, I'll miss Dye, his contribution to the team and to the city as a whole. He's a real class act. Thanks for everything, Jermaine.
Agreed,
Adieu JD adieu........*sniff sniff*
I'd have moved Beckham over to short and Ramirez back to second instead... also, I hope the Sox do re-sign Dye to a lower priced contract -- say, $3-5 million. While he slumped in the second half last year, he's been the most consistent hitter in the Sox line-up the past few years. With Thome gone, move Dye to DH since Rios is likely to play in right.
I agree with all of that.
