(dis)abling conditions

large_newSiteUnseen.jpg Tonight is the only night you can catch this year's Site Unseen: a site-specific performance event featuring theater, dance, music, and visual art by local and international artists.

Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, this year's event focuses on disability — a theme that emerged from curator Julie Laffin's personal battles with environmental illness and complications from chronic Lyme Disease. To chronicle her experience, Laffin collaborated with Assistant Curator Clover Morell and Chicago DCA Theater Director Claire Geall Sutton on a piece that will be part of tonight's event. Other participating artists include Mike Ervin and Rahnee Patrick, Judith Harding (in collaboration with Still Point Theatre Collective), James Kubie and Katrina Chamberlin (in collaboration with Joseph Belknap), Marissa Perel and Madeleine Bailey, Debra Tolchinsky, Unreal-estates (Annette Barbier and Drew Browning), and Project Onward.

Tonight, Monday, November 9, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Chicago Cultural Center, 78 . Washington, FREE
