"Human Error" Blamed For Green Line Derailment

2009_12_14_green_line.jpg This weekend's Green Line derailment that resulted in 14 people being hospitalized is now being blamed on "human error." An official with the CTA told CBS 2 that the "initial investigation does have many human errors." The operator of the train at the time of the derailment is reported to have over five years of experience.

Saturday's derailment happened as the train was making the turn to go north from the 63rd/Ashland branch to the main line, close to where a similar derailment happened in May 2008; that derailment was blamed on "operator error."
