2009_12_30_stargaze.jpg Looking for lady love? You'd better move fast because the city's only remaining full-time nightspot for the lesbian community - Stargaze - will be closing its doors for good following its New Year's Eve celebration Thursday evening.

The bar, opened in 1998, was voted "Best New Business" by the Chicago Area Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in 1999, and was also inducted into the city's Gay & Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2006. Its owners, Mamie Lake and Dustin Fermin, have been lauded for its support of the city's LGBT organizations in addition to providing one of the few consistent homes for lesbians seeking a drink. The city's other remaining full-time lesbian bar, Lost & Found, closed in early 2008.

In honor of the bar's closing, DJ Gloria will be spinning at the party at 5419 N. Clark in Andersonville.
