Do This: NAHA's "Winter Doldrums" Cocktail Dinner

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Jan 21, 2010 7:20PM

RareTeaCellarTwitter2.jpg Speaking strictly for ourselves, this has been one tame winter. Cabin fever? Not a problem; we've been going out nightly with simply some fleece and a windbreaker.

But it's still tea weather and NAHA has one sweet cocktail dinner ready to go Tuesday. While Carrie Nahabedian handles the food — fritto misto with black cod, calamari and Meyer lemon; garganelli with Great Hill blue cheese, roasted Egyptian beets and cracked walnuts; roasted and lacquered aged Moulard duck with confit cockscombs, chestnuts and potato hash — cocktails will be fashioned by Wirtz Beverage mixologist Peter Vestinos and teas from Rodrick Markus's Rare Tea Cellar.

If you haven't had Markus's teas, you're missing out on Heaven on earth. Markus specializes in hard to find, single varietals and cave-aged teas. Once relegated simply to pricey hotels, rare Tea Cellar is now working its way into restaurants like NAHA, Blackbird and the Publican.

This dinner starts at 6 p.m. January 27. The cost is an all inclusive $125. RSVP to 312-321-6242.
