Rahmbo Apologizes For Dropping The R-Word

Depending on how you look at it, it's gotta be hard to be Rahm Emanuel right now. For his whole life, he's been a foul-mouthed, hard-charging, dead-fish-mailing, happily crass MF'er. And now that he's the President's boy Friday, he's gotta shape up and fly right and not be such a jerk all the time. That can't be easy.

Emanuel has added another mea culpa to the list after it was reported in the WSJ that he used the term "retarded" in reference to a decision to run ads again conservative Democrats hesitant to sign on to health care reform. Doesn't he know we're all using "douchebags" instead of almost everything else these days?

Emanuel called and apologized to Tim Shriver who runs the Special Olympics for using the term. Between this and the whole bowling/Leno flap, it might be best just to make sure the White House has him on speed dial in the future, just in case. Sarah Palin also objected to the use of the term and while she's usually an easy target for jokes we're gonna be adults here and just leave it alone.*

Maybe he just should have said "leotarded" and left everyone except Dan Savage guessing.
