Stop by Sheffield's this evening to bid farewell to Phil Kuhl. The self-described "Beer Dude" was one of the driving forces in expanding Sheffield's already extensive beer menu with rare selections, regular classes and beer/food pairings. kuhl is moving on to become the beer director at the Fountainhead, an upscale beer bar with hand-pumped beers set to open in spring at 1968-70 W. Montrose.

Kuhl's marking his last night at Sheffield's by breaking out the good stuff from 6 p.m. until last call. Among the beers he'll be opening are a three-year vertical tasting (2006-2008) of Two Brothers Bare Tree; Lost Abbey's Angel Share ale on draft; a keg of Ommegang's Rouge Grand Cru; and bottles of New Belgium's 2009 Dark Kriek.
