Chicagoist Wants YOU!

2009_08_apply.jpg It's that time of year again! Chicagoist would like to add several more people to our staff to fill in some gaps in coverage and make the site even better. Specific positions are listed below. If you're interested in any of them, meet the qualifications, can make the time commitment, and would like to join the Chicagoist team, email applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com with the position in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post if you like. No need to send us resumes though ... writing positions are unpaid for now.

Arts & Events
Comedy
Is your pal taking improv classes at Second City (or are you)? Do you enjoy cluing people in to our city's vast trove of ha-ha funny treasures? We want to giggle along with you so shoot us an email.

Theater
Are you just as excited by the latest at Steppenwolf and the many excellent, smaller theaters across the city as you are by the big Broadway productions that hit town? Then we want to hear from you and how you can help us flesh out our theater coverage.

General Contributors
Community News
One of the things we love about this city is its great diversity and now we're looking to reflect that diversity in our local news coverage. We're especially looking for writers with interest in reporting what's happening in the Latino and African-American communities.

Weekend
We're also looking for a few contributors who can help us out over the weekend, keeping readers informed of events and news that might break even while you're away from the office.

If you'd like to apply for any of these positions, send an email to applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com and indicate the position you're applying for in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post if you like. Please only apply if you are able to write quality posts for the site as well as make the time commitment needed every week to research posts and to write them.
