Chicagoist Wants YOU!

By Marcus Gilmer in Miscellaneous on Apr 12, 2010 5:40PM

2009_08_apply.jpg It's that time of year again! Chicagoist would like to add several more people to our staff to fill in some gaps in coverage and make the site even better. Specific positions are listed below. If you're interested in any of them, meet the qualifications, can make the time commitment, and would like to join the Chicagoist team, email applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com with the position in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post if you like. No need to send us resumes though ... writing positions are unpaid for now.

News
Community News
One of the things we love about this city is its great diversity and now we're looking to reflect that diversity in our local news coverage. We're especially looking for writers with interest in reporting what's happening in the Latino and African-American communities.

State Politics
Are you more interested in what's happening in Springfield than City Hall? Do you prefer the bigger picture of state politics to the hustle and bustle of local politics? Drop us a line and let us know how you think you can help flesh out our political coverage.

General Contributors
We're also looking for a few contributors who can help us cover all the stuff that doesn't fall so neatly into categories, the miscellaneous stories that happen every day, some good, some bad, and that make up what our great city is all about.

Got something you think the site is missing? Feel free to shoot us an email and let us know how you think you'd be able to fill that gap.

If you'd like to apply for any of these positions, send an email to applychicagoist(at)gmail(dot)com and indicate the position you're applying for in the subject line. In the email, tell us about yourself and why you'd be good on that beat, and throw in a sample post you'd write for the site. Please only apply if you are able to write quality posts for the site as well as make the time commitment needed every week to research posts and to write them.
