We're fast approaching the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, the second part of the original Star Wars trilogy and commemorative screenings don't surprise us. Lucasfilm Ltd has launched a year-long campaign, The Empire Gives Back and, lucky for Chicago-area Star Wars fans, a set of digital screenings will be taking place at the Field Museum benefiting the museum's Education Outreach programs. There will be four separate screenings with a variety of packages available.
Friday, May 7
3 p.m. screening ($30)
Saturday, May 8
- 3 p.m. screening ($30)
- 7 p.m. screening ($65 - includes Star Wars memorabilia gift bag; $95 - includes choice seating and a Star Wars memorabilia gift bag)
- 10:30 p.m. screening $65 - includes Star Wars memorabilia gift bag; $95 - includes choice seating and a Star Wars memorabilia gift bag)
There's also a reception with Star Wars creator George Lucas, but tickets quickly sold out. Alas, we'll have to wait for our opportunity to ask him what the hell he was thinking with the prequel trilogy.
