Caption Contest: Fun With The City's Website

By Marcus Gilmer in Miscellaneous on Apr 27, 2010 2:00PM

The City of Chicago recently plunked down a healthy $1.8 million earlier this year to overhaul its website. And, yes, the revamped page looks shiny and neat. But while they may have sunk some cash into the overhaul, they skimped on photos and some look like they predated the Internet altogether. Such as the below photo (as pointed out by our pal at Beachwood, Steve Rhodes) from the City's Procurement page.

"Did you see this? He submitted a bid but he's not even RELATED to any of us! HA!"

The City's caption? If you hover your mouse over the image: "A group of people sitting around a table." About as bland as the late 80's/early 90's fashion those folks are rocking. But if the City's going to stick with a 20-year old photo for its website, we trust YOU to come up with a better caption that that.

So we're joining forces with our pals over at the Lisagor Award-winning website Beachwood Reporter and having a caption contest. Leave your suggested caption for the above photo in the comments below and we'll be going through them one by one. A group of writers from both sites will pick the best caption and the winner will receive...well, who knows? A contract from the City? A FOIA request? Maybe just a new coffee mug with the Chicago flag on it. Just like everything else in the City, we'll figure it out as we go or pick the caption that promises the biggest campaign contribution
