Logan Square's Metronome Celebration Hits The Streets

metronome-logo.jpg As Fest Season 2010 continues to roll through the streets of Chicago, many smaller outdoor street festivals tend to get lost in the shuffle. Chicagoist is recommending the second annual Metronome Celebration in trendy Logan Square this Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13.

We love fests as a rule, but this one has more going for it than most with an expanded area for the wee-ones with rides and attractions dubbed the “Out Forever Zone,” along with food from 20-different-restaraunts and your usual street vendor fare.

The selection of music at Metronome is really what takes center-stage at this particular festival with four stages curated by The Congress Theater, The Empty Bottle, MP Productions and The Chicago Blues and Bluegrass Festival. Our personal favorite act are garage-rock veterans, The Pack A.D., who will be taking the Empty Bottle/ Indie Rock Stage on Saturday.

We applaud the fest’s “Green” efforts, in their aggressive recycling and bio-degradable sourcing program, aiming to keep 50 percent of waste away from landfills. Funds collected from the festival will benefit the Logan Square Neighborhood Association who will distribute the funds to various local schools for use in their assorted projects.
