Chicago native R. Kelly once opined that age ain't nothin' but a number. Granted, he was referring to his child-bride Aliyah. But that sentiment will hold true once again this weekend as mature women from across the nation decend upon the glamourous Embassy Suites near Chicago's O'Hare Airport for the Second Annual National Cougars Convention. "A year or two ago, a young guy would never tell anybody he was dating a woman old enough to be his mother," Rich Gosse, a self-proclaimed dating expert and organizer of the convention told the Tribune. "But around the end of 2009, we started getting tons and tons of guys at cougar parties, and now we can't find enough women."

Somewhere between drunken high schooler's lust for Stifler's mom and Courtney Cox's ascendancy to an early forties sex symbol, the sexual availability of older women to younger men and their desirability have become socially acceptable, if not an outright sex trend (like cuckolding a scant few years back). And what would a sexual trend be without books on the topic and some sort of liason-facilitating convention? From this comes This Saturday's National Cougar Convention. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and admission is $20. After an address by Gosse, and a pagent in which the younger men ("cubs") will vote on Miss Cougar USA, convention attendees will "dance to their favorite hits from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m." Of course what would winning Miss Cougar USA be without a prize? The lucky lady will head off to a free week at the world famous Hedonism Resort and Spa in Negril, Jamaica and a Bahamas trip on the Cougar Cruise.

We'll have coverage from the scene Monday. Stay tuned!
