SUPREME COURT REVERSES CITY HANDGUN BAN

The Supreme Court has voted 5-4 to overturn the City of Chicago's handgun ban.
Update: As expected, Alito issues opinion, Roberts, Scalia, Alito, Kennedy, and Thomas vote to overturn, Justices Stevens, Breyer, Ginsburg, and Sotomayor dissent.
Update: Per SCOTUSblog: "The majority Justices do not support all parts of the Alito opinion, but all five agree that the 2nd Amendment applies to state and local government." Since D.C. is a federal city, that ban overturning did not apply to state and local laws.
Update: Full opinion in the case is available here [PDF].
Update: According to SCOTUSblog, the case is now remanded back to the Seventh Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals which upheld the ban last year after ruling that the 2nd Amendment did not apply to state and municipal laws.
