We noticed yesterday that Hideout hadn't announced its yearly block party yet. In previous years it's been slowly scaling down since its peak as the touch point for the Touch & Go curated weekend, with last year's installment acting as Bloodshot Records' anniversary party. We reached out to the club and were told that yes, indeed, they were having a block party this year on August 21 and that details would be available shortly.

This morning Pitchfork reported that Diplo is taking a roving "block party" on the road -- details haven't been announced but it's sure to be stuffed with dance friendly bands and like-minded DJs, and we suspect appearances by Diplo's own Major Lazer -- but the Chicago stop for his tour is August 21 ... at The Hideout!

Judging by the gals dancing onstage for last weekend's Major Lazer set we're not so sure this Hideout Block Party will be as kid friendly as it has been in the past. On the other hand, what nine-year-old wouldn't entertained by a stage filled with dancing Chinese dragons and a mohawked MC?
