After the heart issues that got him pulled from Sunday's start, the Cubs' Carlos Silva is heading to the disabled list. Silva was placed on the 15-day DL last night by the team so he could be further evaluated. Cubs acting manager Alan Trammell said, "There needs to be some evaluation and tests done instead of putting some sort of quick timetable and everyone saying, 'When is he going to pitch?' At no time was he ever in any life-threatening situation." With there still being an open slot from the Ted Lilly trade, the Cubs had two spots available on the roster so they called up minor leaguers Thomas Diamond and Casey Coleman, who got shelled in his major league debut last night.
