It's rare that a coffeehouse sends out a press release touting its imminent opening in Lincoln Park, a neighborhood not known for lacking a good coffeehouse. But there's a time for everything and the inbox today saw the arrival of one announcing the proposed fall opening of CityGrounds, mere steps from Gemini Bistro and Oz Park. The artist renderings of what the bar and counter seating look like are impressive, as is the sourcing of beans from Metropolis. But it appears the real reason for the press release is to pimp what CityGrounds says is Lincoln Park's "first Kees van der Westen Mirage Duette espresso machine."

That's some heavy duty espresso brewing in a town where Asado and Intelligentsia are selling folks on the good old fashioned ceramic drip method. Still, I'm down for doing a taste test on a cortado between CityGrounds' Mirage and the simple machine used by, say, Bridgeport Coffee House. I can certainly wait until autumn.
