Prepare yourself for a fury of red hair, Rickenbackers and 60s inspired rock as two of Chicago's most-touted bands, White Mystery and The 1900s, take the stage this Friday, August 27 at Lincoln Hall.

Although the 1900s are opening up for the ass-kicking garage rock duo White Mystery we think they may be the draw at this particular event because they will be previewing songs from Return of the Century, their long-anticipated follow-up to their 2007 debut album. Time and time again the band has been compared to chamber-pop masters Belle & Sebastian, but honestly, their easy, breezy approach to '60s and '70s pop-dom has more in common with British-American blues-pop chart-toppers Fleetwood Mac. Boy-girl belted vocals sits neatly atop clean guitar tones with warm, whistful melodies that guide you through tales of passion and lost love.

We expected a full-length release in less than the three years it took them to finally deliver Return of the Century, but side projects like Edward Anderson's cross-country and folk-pop infused group, Mazes, have kept The 1900s in check for a while.

Either way, we think this is one of the must-see events this weekend. Get your tickets in advance because with all the press both these bands get it will surely sell out quickly.
