09_06_10merzapothecary.gif We now pause from your wall-to-wall Mayor Daley coverage to pick up where we left off yesterday, as though nothing has happened. Last week, Chuck brought us the news that the Merz Apothecary, the century-plus-old stalwart of the Chicago apothecary scene, was pulling out of it's space at Macy's and moving a couple blocks south towards the Palmer House Hilton. Yesterday we spent 10With Anthony Qaiyum, owner of Merz, about the business and it's long lifespan. So now: What's the deal with the whole Macy's pullout? And why exactly do they sell online as Smallflower, anyways? We dug a little deeper. Plus, we just love the word "apothecary."
