15534232.jpg On the morning of September 11th, news radio was the destination for up-to-the-minute updates on what was happening in New York, Washington DC, as well as here in Chicago. While most people were glued to the national network feeds coming from the scene, local radio had to balance the coverage from abroad as well as handle the reaction closer to home.

WBBM-AM's Pat Cassidy was the morning anchor as it happened, and sat down with the Chicagoist Podcast Series to talk about what it was like on the other side of the microphone that morning. We all know what it was like watching everything happen that morning - but what was it like having the responsibility of holding it together emotionally to bring people the information they needed to know? Cassidy answered that and much more, which we'll bring you today and tomorrow heading into the Saturday anniversary.
