Man In Trouble For Fetching Mail Naked

2010_09_20_robe.jpg We often joke in the Chicagoist office about the joys of jobs and daily situations where pants aren't required. But that usually involves being in the privacy of our own home. One Skokie man, however, is in trouble for allegedly extending those bounds of privacy to, er, a bit outside the home. Gary Preston Ades, 63, has been charged with disorderly conduct after he fetched his mail naked but happened to do so in front of a gaggle of young girls, ages 9 to 11. Apparently, Ades was about to hop in the shower but decided to fetch his mail instead. At 4 p.m. on a Wednesday. Yep. The kicker? This isn't the first time this has happened. According to Fox Chicago: "Ades had been warned in the past not to come to the door or go outside without clothes on, police said. Police said a similar complaint about Ades going outside without any clothes on to get his mail was filed on June 29." After investigating - Ades apparently faced the girls while fetching his mail in his birthday suit but did not act inappropriately otherwise (besides, you know, being naked in public) - officials have decided not to charge him with any sexual offense. He's got a court day in October and hopefully this Christmas a family member or friend will buy him a bathrobe to hang next to the front door.
