Well, Drew Peterson will have one less thing to worry about while awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife. A judge has tossed out the gun charge prosecutors filed against Peterson some time ago, saying, via the Tribune, "Peterson's semiautomatic rifle wasn't protected under a federal law that gives police officers general immunity to own weapons that are illegal under state law." The decision could also help Peterson's son Stephen, an Oak Brook police officer who took in two or three of his father's guns shortly after the disappearance of Drew's fourth wife Stacy. Stephen was suspended after admitting he took in the guns but his attorney said today's decision proves that Stephen did nothing wrong. Charles Hervas, attorney for the Oak Brook police chief, said of Stephen's case, "The internal review continues."
