Muti Falls Ill, Unable To Fulfill CSO Residency

2010_10_muti.jpg After a stellar debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Millennium Park last month, Musical Director Riccardo Muti was a late scratch from Saturday's Symphony Ball with "extreme gastric distress." Not just an ordinary case of gas, this ailment is apparently extreme enough to force Muti out of his fall concerts with the CSO.

members of the Symphony said that Muti "appeared very pale." Muti released a statement through the CSO expressing his regret to complete the residence, the flew home to Milan for a prognosis and treatment options with his personal physician. [Sun-Times]
