Rocktober = Halloween = Ghosts = Ghost signs! What's a ghost sign? In the words of the fine folks at Wikipedia, a ghost sign is an "old hand-painted advertising signage that has been preserved on a building for an extended period of time. The signage may be kept for its nostalgic appeal, or simply indifference by the owner." The interesting -- and usually best preserved -- ghost signs are ones previously undiscovered and not revealed until the demolition of an adjacent building that was erected after the advert had been created. Enjoy this collection of ghost signs from around Chicago.
