Defending Champs Wanjiru and Shobukhova Win Chicago Marathon

This year's Chicago Marathon was all about defending titles as Kenyan Sammy Wanjiru, 23, raced to victory over Ethiopian Tsegaye Kebede to finish in 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 24 seconds. In the women's category, Russian Liliya Shobukhova also defended her title, finishing in 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds, and setting a new Russian record, which was previously held at 2 hours, 20 minutes and 47 seconds. In the wheelchair race, Heinz Frei, 51, of Switzerland, set a new record with his win of 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 56 seconds, while American Amanda McGrory won the women's wheelchair race in 1 hour, 47 minutes, and 25 seconds.
