10With Podcast: Danny Pudi, "Community" (Pt 1)

By Karl Klockars in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 12, 2010 3:00PM

2010_10_11dannypudi.jpg Just about a year ago, Danny Pudi was best known for being the "butt-dialer" in this T-Mobile ad. Since then, he's begun the ascent to sitcom stardom as Abed Nadir on NBC's Community. It's gotta be great being part of the ensemble cast that's the heir apparent to the "Scrubs" mantle, but you've truly arrived when you get not one but two "Fuck Yeah" Tumblr sites.

Oh, and he's also from Chicago.

We first realized Pudi had hometown ties when we saw him marching in last year's broadcast of the Thanksgiving Day parade, and since then have been slaving away to get him on the phone to talk about all things television, comedy, and pierogi. Thanks to Twitter, we finally made it happen.

In this first portion of our wide-ranging and epic discussion, we talk with Pudi about his Chicago ties, his Polish heritage, we drop some Chevy Chase related Fletch-isms, and talk about how Chris Farley helped him get his start in show business - sort of.
