The Muppets Have a Cooking Show!

By Anthony Todd in Food on Oct 14, 2010 3:00PM

If you're like us, that headline alone will make you excited. We don't often shill for the Disney Studios, but anything Muppet-related makes us giddy with glee. Muppets and food together? Our happiness cannot be contained. The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora will make for a very amusing couple of hours at your computer.

The culinary value of the shows is, of course, limited - most of the food is pre-made and is just an excuse for Cat Cora to goof around with all your favorite characters. The short shows manage to capture much of the zaniness of the Muppets, and have amazing cut-away sequences that reference the original muppet show. Bear on Patrol teaches us to identify ripe fruit out of a lineup, and Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker re-enact Frankenstein - except the ingredients are past the sell-by date. The Swedish chef also makes appearances, though not as often as we'd like.

References to Cora's career also abound. At one point, Cat Cora wakes up from a nap in a bowl of pancake batter (you just have to watch), and with sleep in her voice babbles "Mr. Chairman, what's the secret ingredient?"
