Let's get one thing out of the way right at the top here: love him or hate him, Kanye West is arguably one of the most -- if not THE most -- interesting thing in pop culture today. While some bemoan the notion that West's antics have eclipsed his music, we find that notion to be misguided in its insistence that West be held to past ideas and methods of judging artistic achievement when the man so obviously has an uncanny grasp of the RIGHT NOW. That could have led him to get lost in pop ephemera were his prodigious musical output not so consistently outstanding. Consider West's latest salvo, this 35-minute video amidst the war drums building in intensity as the the release date of his new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy draws ever nearer.

Let's just call it Exhibit #1,573 in the argument for West's in fact being the most mesmerizing and inventive pop artist working right now.
