2010_10_22_10withrhymefest.jpg Not too surprisingly, Rhymefest is calling on some of hip-hop’s heavy-hitters in order to help drum up some dough for his campaign as 20th Ward Alderman. According to a news release, ‘Fest is holding his campaign kick-off fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 14th at the Shrine, located at 2109 S. Wabash Ave. One special guest is Lupe Fiasco, who is connected to Rhymefest through the transitive power of Kanye, and with whom Rhymefest talked extensively about politics in 2008.

Additionally, DJs Tony Sculfield, Reddy Rock and 33 1/3 will spin records. Tickets for the fundraiser are $35 in advance, and $40 at the door. For $75, supporters can purchase a VIP ticket, which will get them entry, photos, drink tickets and access to the VIP lounge. Patrons will no doubt have fun asking Rhymefest about the resurgence of two arrest reports from 2001 and 2005. (Or ask him about the recent interview he did with us!) Somewhere, a blood vessel in Willie Cochran’s eye just burst. Doors are at 9 p.m. for the 21+ event.
