Daley Picks New Schools CEO

2010_11_16_mazany.jpg Mayor Daley has named Terry Mazany to replace the outgoing Ron Huberman as CEO of the Chicago Public Schools. Mazany's resume includes six years as President and CEO of the Chicago Community Trust, which has given the beleaguered school system millions of dollars over the years.

Although Mazany isn't the educator the Chicago Teachers Union and some politicians, notably State Senator James Meeks, have demanded to head the school system, he does have a background in public school administration prior to joining the Trust. Prior to becoming head of the Trust, Mazany was the senior officer in charge of their Education Initiative, where he was responsible for the design and implementation of the Trust's initial five-year, $50commitment to improve the school system.
